HALIFAX BOARDWALK

Explore the Halifax Waterfront by enjoying a leisurely walk along the nearly 4km boardwalk, visit the famous wave, browse the shops, buy a famous Cows Ice Cream, dine at one of the various restaurants, or relax on one of the hammocks. 

Seaport Farmers Market: The longest continuously operating farmers' market in North America. There are a variety of vendors offering up anything from Nova Scotia produced wines to authentic African cuisine, hand crafted jewellery to fresh seafood, soap to hot sauce and everything in between. Open Saturday and Sunday Mornings. 

Maritime Museum & Pier 21 Museum: The waterfront and harbour are keepers of many stories. Perhaps some of the most dynamic and diverse are told at these two museums.

TOURS ON THE WATERFRONT

Take one of the many guided tours along the waterfront. Vistors can partake in a convention tour, shore excursion, or individual tour. ​

I Heart Bikes: Rent a bike to tour the waterfront by yourself or sign up for a guided tour. 

Murphy's on the Water: Offers a variety of guided tours such as the Harbour Hopper (land & water guided tour), Tall Ship Silva Tours, Harbour Queen Dinner Cruise or Party Cruise. 

Halifax Harbour Tours: Halifax’s all electric harbour boat tour, 60-minute tours departing from the picturesque Halifax waterfront.

Sea Halifax: Experience the first ever jet-boat tour company in Halifax, with a thrilling, yet safe and comfortable harbour tour. 

Harbour Watercraft: Explore the Halifax Harbour by renting a Sea-Doo or a join in on a Kayak Tour. 

J Farwell: Explore the harbour by booking a tall ship sailing tour. 

Segway: Tour the city of Halifax on one of their self-balancing personal transporters also known as a Segway®.

HISTORIC & CULTURAL SITES

George's Island: The smaller of Halifax harbours two island and known to the Mi’kmaq as Kjipuktuk or “The Great Harbour.”, you can visit the island and its historic Fort Charlotte by ferry from the Halifax waterfront. 

Art Gallery NS: As the largest art gallery in Atlantic Canada, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s collections features over 18,000 visual arts works. The gallery longest running exhibition features the works and home of Maud Lewis. A Nova Scotian folk artist whose story recently inspired the 2016 film Maudi. 

Citadel Hill: Situated in the heart of downtown Halifax, this 19th century British fortification features panoramic views of the city. Experience the daily firing of the noon-gun cannon, tap into Halifax’s local brewery scene with the Distilled Experiences tour or go at your own pace on a self-guided tour of this unique Halifax landmark.

WITHIN NOVA SCOTIA

There is a lot to see outside of the core of Halifax, that you shouldn't miss if you have extra time during your stay in NS!

Peggy's Cove: Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, built in 1915, is one of Nova Scotia’s most well-known lighthouses and may be the most photographed in Canada. 

Bay of Fundy: A visit to Nova Scotia is not complete without witnessing the incredible tides of the Bay of Fundy. Each day, twice a day, 160 billion tonnes of seawater flow in and out of the Bay of Fundy.

Whale Watching: Take a tour and get a breathtaking view of a whale breaching the ocean's surface. 

Tidal Bore Rafting: Ride the waves of the Shubenacadie River on a Zodiac boat while the tide rushes in or out creating high waves. 

Wineries: Visit one of the many vinyards throughout the Annapolis Valley to tast some amazing wines with amazing views. 

Lunenburg: Visit the south shore of Nova Scotia to see Old Town Lunenburg, one of only two urban communities in North America designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. 

Golfing: Visit one of the many golf courses accross Nova Scotia for some spectacular views. 

Cape Breton Island: Take a couple days to see the breathtaking views of Cape Breton. This is one of the must-sees of Nova Scotia. There is so much to do on the island that you may not be able to fit it all in one trip!
